About Rahaf Harfoush

Rahaf Harfoush is a strategist, digital anthropologist, and best-selling author whose work explores the intersection of technology, innovation, and digital culture. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Red Thread Institute of Digital Culture and is a member of France’s National Digital Council.

Rahaf was recently appointed to the United Nations High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence. In 2021, she joined the Oxford Internet Institute as a Visiting Policy Fellow.

Her latest book, Hustle & Float: Reclaim Your Creativity and Thrive in a World Obsessed with Work, examines the tension between productivity and creative well-being. It has been featured by Bloomberg, CBC, CTV, and Forbes, and translated into Chinese and French.

Earlier in her career, Rahaf was Associate Director of the Technology Pioneer Program at the World Economic Forum in Geneva, where she helped spotlight startups driving global change. She co-authored The Decoded Company, a New York Times and USA Today bestseller that won the 2015 Gold Axiom Award for Best Business Technology Book. Her debut book, Yes We Did, offered an insider’s look at how social media shaped Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Recognized globally for her thought leadership, Rahaf has been named one of France’s most innovative women by Les Napoleons, a Young Global Changer by the G20 Global Think Tank Summit, and a Rising Talent by the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society. She is also a member of the German Marshall Network of Transatlantic Leaders.

Her writing has appeared in Harvard Business Review, Wired, The Globe and Mail, Fast Company, Monocle, The Financial Times, and Techonomy. She is a regular commentator on France24 and CBC, and has been speaking on digital culture and technology since 2006.

Outside of work, Rahaf enjoys sharing snapshots of her dog Pixel, strumming the ukulele, and crafting her second novel.
