Journalist and speaker specialising in geoeconomics, Yara Rizk analyses the shifting power dynamics reshaping the global economy. At the intersection of geopolitics and business, she focuses on emerging economies, sovereignty strategies, competition for strategic resources and changing trade and capital flows, examining how these forces shape markets, companies and investment decisions.
She is currently Editor-in-Chief of the Infrastructure & Energy division at CFNEWS, a financial publication specialising in investment and financing for corporate executives, investment funds, banks and advisory firms. She covers major transactions and investment strategies across energy, transport, digital infrastructure and strategic assets. She is also a regular television analyst on BFMTV, LCI, franceinfo, France 5, France 24 and TV5MONDE, and serves as an expert with Club DEMETER, a think tank and foresight platform focused on global agricultural and food issues.
Her perspective is informed by an international career spanning field reporting, research and finance across four continents. After working with L’Orient-Le Jour in Beirut and Arab News in Riyadh and Dubai, she joined the Carnegie Middle East Center, where she focused on the economic dynamics shaping the Middle East and the Gulf. She subsequently worked as a reporter for Jeune Afrique, Africa Business+ and The Africa Report, reporting extensively across West, Central and Southern Africa. Alongside her fieldwork, she covered major forums in international economic governance, including the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, COP27, the African Development Bank Annual Meetings and Abu Dhabi Finance Week.
She later joined investment bank SkyKapital, where she worked on the financing of major infrastructure projects and advised African governments. This experience in finance gave her first-hand insight into investment and financing mechanisms, as well as the trade-offs that shape both public- and private-sector decision-making.
