About Nicklas Bergman

Nicklas Bergman is a straight-talking Swedish entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and forward thinker. He specializes in understanding and interpreting the technological megatrends that are shaping the future of business, society, and culture. Nicklas collaborates with forward-thinking leaders and organizations—both established and emerging—to help them navigate an increasingly uncertain future. His unique insights help move audiences from skepticism to curiosity and preparedness for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

With over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, Nicklas has a deep understanding of building companies across different regions and economic climates. His ventures range from co-founding and investing in an electron microscopy company that developed unique nanoscale technologies, to developing a Scandinavian ski resort that attracted nearly 200 million EUR in investments, to establishing a Volvo distribution network in Romania that grew into a 300 million EUR business. His success stems from a strong curiosity and desire to understand emerging trends, even in uncertain environments.

For more than 20 years, Nicklas has worked as a technology investor, staying agile and adaptable in times of great uncertainty. He has witnessed companies rise and fall, with some providing enormous returns while others failed entirely. His hands-on approach, combining business acumen and technological expertise, gives him a distinctive perspective. As one of six members of the EIC Fund’s investment committee, he helps manage a 5 billion EUR deep tech VC fund that invests in over 100 European startups each year.

In addition to his entrepreneurial and investment work, Nicklas has spent over a decade as a futurist. Engaging deeply with technology and innovation, he meets regularly with scientists, entrepreneurs, and fellow investors. While optimistic about the potential of new technologies, he is also cautious about society’s readiness for the rapid changes ahead. His book, Navigating the Techstorm: The Business Impact of Technology Beyond the Hype (LID Publishing, London), was recognized as one of the top 10 business books to read in 2018 by Entrepreneur magazine.

Today, Nicklas divides his time between technology investments, experimental projects, and advising others on how to navigate the opportunities and challenges that the future holds. He believes we are entering an era where technology will fundamentally redefine our world. As such, it is no longer just about what technology can do for us, but about what we should allow technology to do. Ethical considerations are becoming increasingly complex as new innovations emerge, and Nicklas is a strong advocate for ensuring that technology serves to improve people’s lives.
