About Mark Beaumont

Mark Beaumont has built a distinguished career as both an athlete and a broadcaster, achieving numerous world firsts and records. He is also an investor and entrepreneur, scaling early-stage science, engineering, and technology companies. This unique combination allows him to speak knowledgeably about equity deals, boardroom strategies, and performance teams, as well as his adventures cycling down volcanoes and surviving capsizes.

Having cycled around the world twice, Mark holds the 18,000-mile record in 78 days and 14 hours, achieving the famous ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ for the first time by bicycle. His expeditions have taken him to over 130 nations and territories, producing documentaries over 15 years for the BBC, GCN, and CNN, and publishing five books. These epic documentaries have taken viewers to over 100 countries, into the Arctic, high mountains, and around the Commonwealth. He even survived a capsized boat in the mid-Atlantic, captivating audiences with his mountaineering and ocean rowing feats.

In recognition of his contributions to sport and charity, Mark was awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Year’s honours. In August 2021, he won the GBduro 2021 race, a self-supported bikepacking enduro competition from Land’s End to John O’Groats on road, gravel, and single-track. He completed the 2000km journey in 135 hours and 24 minutes.
