About Jean Jouzel

Jean Jouzel is a renowned paleo-climate scientist at the Laboratory for Climate Sciences and the Environment, where he has spent most of his scientific career. His work primarily focuses on reconstructing past climates through ice studies of Antarctica and Greenland, earning him international acclaim. He has served as both Research Director and Deputy Director of the Laboratory for Climate Sciences and the Environment and is still associated with the organization. Later, he became the director of the Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace (IPSL), which unites laboratories in Paris working on climate and environmental research.

Jouzel has been a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for over 20 years, playing a key role in communicating the effects of human activities on the planet’s climate to the public. He is also a member of the Board of the National Research Agency and serves as President of the High Council for Science and Technology. Throughout his career, Jouzel has authored more than 250 scientific publications, with around 200 published in prestigious journals such as Nature and Science, making him one of the most cited authors in the field of Earth sciences.
