About Jean David

Jean David, a native of Quebec City, is one of the pioneers and builders of Cirque du Soleil, where he led the marketing department as Vice-President for 15 years, from 1984 to 1999. He is recognized as one of the main architects of Cirque du Soleil, as described in the book Blue Ocean Strategy. During his tenure, he distinguished himself through innovative marketing methods, commercializing the Big Top and introducing its magic to audiences on four continents.

Jean David is an outstanding speaker and consultant in creativity and marketing. Among his accomplishments, he completed a transitional mandate at the WYNN Hotel in Las Vegas as Acting Vice President of Entertainment, Sales & Marketing. He also conducted an 18-month pre-feasibility study for the ESSEL group, leading to the creation of the Mumbai International Creative Center in Mumbai, India—a futuristic project encompassing a convention center and a theme park centered around creativity.

Jean David is a visionary and passionate entrepreneur, unafraid to express his perceptions and concepts regarding societal organization and the application of creativity to promote change and innovation. He works particularly well with managers, fostering a climate that encourages future-oriented thinking. Self-taught, Jean David was awarded the Montreal Marketing Association’s “Grand Prix de la personnalité marketing” in June 1996. In March 2005, he published Quel Cirque! Ma théorie générale de la réalité, a book about his experiences at Cirque du Soleil, presenting his vision of society.
