About Damla Hekimoglu

Damla Hekimoğlu is a versatile journalistic all-rounder, adept both in front of and behind the camera. She plays a wide range of journalistic and thematic roles, including at virtual events and online conferences. Damla is a news presenter for “Tagesschau24” of ARD German Public Broadcasting, where she covers breaking news and various newsworthy events. ARD, with its 22,000 employees, is one of the world’s largest broadcast organizations and Germany’s market leader in hard news, news magazines, and documentaries.

Additionally, Damla works as a multilingual investigative journalist and reporter for West German Broadcasting (WDR). Her live reports, moderations, and interviews have been featured on PHOENIX of ARD and ZDF, WDR, and the BBC. She reports on politics, world affairs, and social events. She is also involved in investigative research for the German research cooperation WDR, NDR, and Sueddeutsche Zeitung on a project-by-project basis.

Damla holds a master’s degree in English and Romance languages and literature, as well as Communication from Duesseldorf’s Heinrich-Heine-University, with a study visit to Harvard University. She completed a journalistic apprenticeship program (Volontariat) at West German Broadcasting (WDR) in Cologne.

As a board member of the Harvard Club Rhein-Main and founder of the international talk series “Harvard Club Talks,” she interviews high-profile guests from politics, business, science, and society in both virtual and analog formats. Damla moderates intellectual panel discussions and talks in German, English, and Turkish.

The daughter of Turkish parents, Damla grew up in Germany. She is committed to volunteering for the education of children. On the board of the Harvard Alumni Club in Rhine-Main and for various foundations, she volunteers her time to promote media literacy and encourage young talent among socially disadvantaged children and young people.
